Newsletter: A Renewed Commitment to Economic Growth
Texas has a great record when it comes to private-sector job creation. But we cannot allow our past success to make us complacent in the future. It's important that we continue to approach public policy in a way that will encourage job creation and economic opportunity.
That's why, earlier this month, I formed the House Select Committee on Economic Competitiveness. This committee of seven House members will look at a number of factors that contribute to our economic climate, from education to infrastructure to incentives to quality of life. The committee's findings will underscore our approach to economic development in the Texas House and provide guidance for action in the next legislative session.
It's important to show that the state of Texas is still fully committed to a robust private sector. It's also important to show that we understand the many factors and issues that employers take into consideration when they decide where to create jobs. This is an opportunity to make sure that we stay at the top of our game and have the right approach to compete in today's fast-changing economy. I look forward to sharing the work of this new committee with you in the months ahead. I'll also be posting about the committee and other work of the Texas House online, so please stay up-to-date by liking my page on Facebook and following me on Twitter.
